Chemical Engineering Machine Shop

The Chemical Engineering Machine Shop is located in 110 CBEB. The machine shop is a resource for chemical engineering researchers and faculty. For questions or more information please contact the shop supervisor, Teresa Pond, at CHEMS@engr.psu.edu.

  • Tuesday-Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Chemical Engineering Project Construction Requirements

  • Please reach out to CHEMS@engr.psu.edu to schedule a time to discuss your project.
    • When meeting at the scheduled time, please provide:
      • A clear description of the project
      • A dimensioned drawing (electronic file or paper drawing)
      • Any applicable data sheets for critical components
      • An approximate timeline for completion, or project milestones that need to be met
      • Project IO number if materials need to be purchased
      • Name of the faculty overseeing the project
  • If the Chemical Engineering Machine Shop does not have the resources or equipment to complete your project, the shop supervisor will work with you to ensure you are connected with the appropriate resources.
  • Any items purchased through the shop (i.e., tubing, swage fittings) will be charged to the appropriate budget.
  • Projects are constructed in the order they enter the shop. Preference is given to chemical engineering research projects.

Shop Safety and Usage

  • Safety glasses are to be worn while in the shop and equipment is running.
    • NO Lab Coats
    • NO Gloves
    • Material MUST be CLEANED
    • MUST discuss all materials prior to their entry into the shop

 

WORK WILL NOT BE PERFORMED ON MATERIALS THAT HAVE BEEN USED IN A LABORATORY WITHOUT BEING SANITIZED!
