The Chemical Engineering Machine Shop provides a selection of training opportunities for researchers within the department.
The following training courses are available:
- Non-powered hand tools
- Powered hand tools
- Cutting tools
Non-powered and powered hand tools will be covered in the same training session, approximately 2-3 hours. Cutting tools will be a subsequent training session, approximately 2 hours.
Completion of the non-powered and powered hand tool training will give researchers clearance to work in the Machine Shop.
Once the training is complete, a training record will be created listing the contents of the training. A copy will be saved in the student’s file, stored in the Machine Shop, and a copy should be stored in the research group’s lab safety binder. The training will have a two-year expiration date, at which point retraining will take place.
Completion of training will provide clearance in the Machine Shop for the researcher to use the tools listed on the training record.
