This article talks about ownership online. It stresses the point of copyright which gives a author exclusive legal rights of their papers. Many things get copy righted now so they cant be legally resold. For example, music, video games, computer soft ware and much more. A lot of people now know how to work around these laws and obtain a lot of free things.

This article talks about the increasing amount of authorship online. The article said that it was to easy for bad authors to publish their work online and it was a great thing when gifted authors published their papers. Google is starting a program to make sure credible authors get seen first before others. Google also thinks they are going to do the same to YouTube and give the credible authors better privileges.

Take Ownership of Your Actions by Taking Responsibility

The main idea of this article is that people should begin being proactive and should begin taking ownership of problems that present themselves. Some people will wait for another person to come along to solve a particular problems which in the grand scheme of things is fine, but what happens when no help is coming? Will you sit back and let the problem exist, or will you take ownership of the problem and solve it yourself? The article states that it is a person’s responsibility to solve a problem whenever they find one. It is the leaders of the world that take this ownership and put the responsibility on themselves. The article described how one woman decided to make organic snacks that tasted good after she found that organic food tasted horrible. She took ownership of the problem and solved it.

The article is about a new program that teachers can use to find out if a student is plagiarizing work. Plagiarism, in this article, is described as the following four points: to steal and pass off as one’s own, to use without crediting the source, to literally steal something, and to present as a new or original idea. Essentially, plagiarism is stealing someone’s authorship of a certain work. Almost all plagiarism is done online. The article also poses the question, “Can words and ideas really be stolen?” The answer, according to U.S. law is yes. Original ideas are considered internet property and are protected by copyright laws. The article is to show that now it is easier than ever to steal authorship over someone’s works even though it is a federal crime.

This article is more of an interview/talk show type conversation but can be very helpful. it goes back to privacy as well as ownership. If you know there is a chance you’re being watched, why not ask questions, take control and find out what really is private or not?

As far as authority online, I could not find any articles. But I do have an idea of what you’re referring to so I then googled “lack of authority online” but still came up with nothing. I believe the reason people feel so free online is because it’s a place where they can say anything. that can be good or bad. there are always forms of plagiarism (going along with public speaking) where girls/guys post; lyrics to songs, famous quotes without ever giving credit, etc. there is also some sense of confidence or lack of confidence where girls feel the need to post bikini pictures and guys post shirtless pictures. none of which is monitored because of how easily they can hide their accounts/posts/pictures from any authority figure they may have as a friend.
