I thought that all of the speeches went really well for being the first time. There were some people, including myself, who had trouble with staying under the time limit of 4 minutes or looking at the audience more than at their notes. However, I thought that all of the speeches were well thought out, and although some people stumbled in some parts, everyone delivered their messages straightforwardly and no one ran out of things to say. I think that I was one of those people who stumbled in some parts, since the fact that the speech was timed was making me a bit nervous (I was thinking of what I wanted to say in Spanish, and I couldn’t remember how to say it in English!!). But I thought a lot of people spoke very confidently and didn’t have any problems remembering facts. Another problem I saw was that a few speakers were talking a bit too softly, so I could not hear what they were saying sometimes and I would miss their point. Lastly, although most of the people in the class remembered to mention the elements of their advertisements/interviews, (such as ethos, pathos, kairos, commonplaces, etc.) in my opinion, there were a few people who did not go into these with enough detail.
The visual aids I liked the most were the Power Points; I really liked the way one person zoomed in on the writing of their advertisement so we could read better, and how another person included quotes and other facts to make a presentation that went with their speech. Pictures also helped me as an audience member to understand the topic more, but I think that including more than just one picture helped to keep me engaged in the speech.
The styles of delivery I liked the most were the ones that included very precise facts along with their observations of the advertisement. I thought this helped them to look more prepared and professional; it seemed that they had practiced beforehand and were informed about that background of the advertisement or interviewee. Also, the speeches that included a solid introduction (mentioning the content of the presentation) seemed very effective to me, since it told the listener what to expect (and it demonstrated that the speaker was prepared and was going to make a point). The speeches that had a conclusion were, of course, also very helpful; however, I noticed that since some people were having trouble with the time limit, not everyone got to give a solid conclusion.

I get your point, I think a reason for that is that when the speech starts people sometimes forget what they are supposed to include or do.

I think one of the major reasons why people get stumbled while delivering their speeches is because they tend to memorize it rather than just keep the main ideas in mind. Then from there, with all the nervous that they have, they will tend to forget what they are actually supposed to say
