I am very happy to announce that a very large project we are part of was recently funded by NSF. Sweet! You can read more about the project in this press release from Purdue and at the project website: http://parasitetracker.org/
The short version: we aim to digitize parasites in our collections—lice, ticks, mosquitoes, horseflies, and many others—to understand their relationships with hosts and how populations have changed over time (among other research questions).
The Frost Entomological Museum has an extensive collection of sucking lice (Anoplura) and respectable collections of ticks, fleas, and chewing lice. We will be looking for digitizers to join us this fall. Stay tuned!
