This week’s mystery louse specimen is a bit gritty, and I forgot the scale bar (argh), but it might be a species many readers are familiar with! Can you guess the mammalian host? This specimen is about the size of a human head louse (though it is not Pediculus humanus), ~2 mm long.
UPDATE: Actually that’s a 2nd instar nymph in that image, and it’s only 1–1.5 mm long. The adults are almost the size of human head lice.
