Hello fellow classmates. I have created my Blog and it can be found at http://sites.psu.edu/porschevzw/
Below is a picture with me and “El Tiante”. Tiant pitched a 229–172 record with 2416 strikeouts, a 3.30 ERA in 3,486.1 innings. He was inducted to the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame in 1997. In 2013, a grass-roots campaign was started to get him elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame as he was on the ballot from 1988 to 2002 but never received enough votes. He is also a member of the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum Hall of Fame.
El Tiante was a three time All Star who played for 6 different ball clubs in America after playing for the Havana Sugar Kings and the Mexico City Tigers. He also played in Venezuala in parts of seasons from 1966 to 1982 and is a member of the Venezuala Baseball Hall of Fame. He and his family were affected by the Castro regime for many years until they were reunited in Boston in 1975.
The reason I chose to expose Luis Tiant is because he is a great ambassador for the game of baseball and embodies the characteristics of global leadership. Anyone that can play both for the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees understands the “notion of differences” (Redmond, 2014). His ability to adapt to difficulty was urther proven when he changed his pitching style after suffering an arm injury, creating his unorthodox delivery which cemented his winning record and made him one of the most respected pitchers in baseball history.
He is a pitching advisor today for the Boston Red Sox. I invite you to read more about him in the link below.

“Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.” -Jack Welch
Hello! My name is Shane Brody.
Location: I live in Philadelphia… born and raised.
Professional Life: I am a Sr. Account Manager for State & Local Government and Education Sales for T-Mobile.
Long-Term Goals: My long-term goals are to hold a management position and continue climbing up the leadership ladder as I pave the way for new and innovative advances in mobile technology, specifically in education.
Leadership Roles: Professionally, I currently hold an “unofficial” leadership role on my team. Many co-workers come to me for sales advice and direction on a daily basis. I am a back-up for my manager when he is on vacation or out of the office for meetings.
I also hold a leadership role on a board of directors for a charter school. I recently headed up the committee to plan a golf outing and fundraiser for the school. The even was a huge success and we are already looking forward to next year.
I would also consider my most important leadership role to be that of a FATHER! I have an adorable 2 year old daughter whom my main goal in life is to succeed at raising a bright, courtesy, independent young woman. I think there’s a long road ahead but I can’t wait to take it on!
Favorite Leadership quote:

Some other interesting tidbits about me:
A few photos of our adventures…

My name is Kimberly Carney. I am originally from Virginia; however I have resided in Bridgeport, PA for over 26 years now. I’m a Territory Manager for an automobile insurance company. Once I graduate, I hope to get a higher level management position. I have been in the insurance industry for 25 years and I have had trouble getting a higher paid position because I don’t have a degree.
In terms of my leadership experience, prior to working as a Territory Manager, I was the Underwriting Supervisor at my current company. Also, the Assistant Underwriting Manager at my previous employer, these are the only two companies that I have worked at.
I have one son, Travis, who resides in Atlanta, GA and is a 9th grade English teacher. He is also a PSU graduate. With working and school, I don’t have a lot of free time, but when I do; I spend time with family and go to the gym

My name is Brian Paterniti, I’m the Training Coordinator for Penn-Mar Human Services. I am located outside of York, PA about 35 minutes north of Baltimore, MD. I love my job. I teach most of our in class trainings and manage records for over 500 employees and 400 adults with disabilities. My long term goal is to be a Cooperate Trainer for Walt Disney University in Walt Disney World. First and foremost though, I want to finish my degree. I was the Vocational Manager in our vocational program overseeing about 40 staff and about 100 individuals with disabilities. Now I only directly supervisor 3 staff but in a much broader role. I do not have a favorite leadership quote but my favorite quote is by Walt Disney. I believe it goes along with School and Leadership. “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible”. I think those words sum up Walt perfectly. He was an amazing visionary and leader. I do not have any children. I do, however, have a dog, he’s a pug, his name is Doug, I call him “Doug the Pug”. When he’s bad I call him, Douglas. I love Disney, golfing, baseball and football. I’m a huge Oriole and Raven fan. I also coach my nieces softball teams.
