Peg Pennepacker has been a high school athletic director for over 30 years and has served as a teacher/athletic director, assistant principal/athletic director and a fulltime athletic director. She has been in public education for over 36 years beginning as a health and physical education teacher before moving into school and athletic administration. She retired in 2017 as the athletic director in the State College Area School District, State College, PA and currently works as a legal consultant.
In 2007, she founded High School Title IX Consulting Services, a small business vested in assisting high schools across Pennsylvania and the country in meeting Title IX compliance as well as education about Title IX law as it pertains to K-12 interscholastic athletic programs and all Title IX issues.
Peg has earned the designation of Pennsylvania Registered Athletic Director from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Directors Association (PSADA) and Certified Athletic Administrator from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA). In addition, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from Lock Haven University, a Masters degree in Sport and Athletic Administration from West Chester University and both elementary and secondary principal’s certification from the University of Scranton.
As an NIAAA Leadership Training Course National Faculty member, Peg has presented numerous clinics and sessions in the professional development program as the Title IX national chairperson. This includes presenting workshops at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Director’s Association Summer Academies, workshops at the annual PSADA conference as well as Sport Law workshops in conjunction with the Pennsylvania School Boards Association. As a NIAAA national faculty member and the Title IX course chairperson, she has traveled around the country teaching the LTC 506 course as well as the two other sports law courses developed by NIAAA.
Additionally, she serves on the PSADA Executive Council as the Title IX consultant, and the PSADA Professional Development Committee.
In March of 2007, Peg was an invited presenter at the “Girls and Women Rock: Celebrating 35 Years of Sport and Title IX Academic and Legal Conference” in Cleveland which featured keynote speakers Billie Jean King, Birch Bayh, Bernice Sandler and Marcia Greenberger.
In December 2007, Peg was awarded the NIAAA Distinguished Service Award at the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrator’s Association conference in Nashville, Tennessee.
Peg has spent the past decade working with the state athletic director’s association, the Pennsylvania School Boards Association and the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrator’s Association educating athletic directors and school district personnel about Title IX law at the high school and junior high school levels. She continues to advocate for high school reporting for all school districts and stronger enforcement of the law at the grassroots level.
