The Penn State Altoona Education Conference, held August 5, 2016, at the Blair County Convention Center, was a rousing success with nearly 300 attendees from fifteen states and Canada.

Keynote speaker Ron Clark, known to many as “America’s Educator,” shared inspiring and uplifting stories about his teaching career and work with the Ron Clark Academy. He participated in a question and answer session and a book signing. In addition to Clark, there were three motivational breakout sessions presented by Ashley Schroeder, Craig Caroff, Chris Pombonyo, and Jessica Martin.

Teachers and administrators earned CEUs or Act 48 Hours, and proceeds benefited the elementary education program and Penn State Altoona.

The title sponsor for the conference was Ashley Schroeder with Schroeder Shenanigans in 2nd. Schroeder is a 2005 Penn State Altoona graduate with a master’s degree in education.

Says Schroeder of the conference, “Ron Clark is an educator that any passionate teacher would aspire to become. Being able to share the stage and spend the day with Mr. Clark, the teacher who has inspired me the most throughout my career, was incredibly empowering and was a powerful reminder to all of us to keep running and do something. I’m thankful to have had the chance to play a part in such a memorable day and a successful education conference, one that has left us all eager for that first day of school, and one that my colleagues, teaching friends, and even my family got to be a part of. It was a day that left a stamp on our teacher hearts forever.”
