It’s that time of year again! We’re about halfway through the fall semester. In the midst of football games, visiting friends at other schools and finally getting around to purchasing the textbooks for your gen eds, take some time to check in with yourself to make sure you’re staying on top of classes, scheduling and job/internship searches. After all, winter break will be here before we know it! Here are a few things to make sure to cross off your to-do list before the semester is out.
- Check your scheduling date: At a school as big as Penn State, classes tend to fill up very quickly. Make sure to get the classes you want for next semester by confirming the date that you can schedule. This can help you to stay on track for the rest of your time here at Penn State.
- Chat with your adviser: It’s important to talk with your adviser at least a few times a semester to make sure you’re staying on track with credits, classes, and planning your majors and minors. Don’t forget to schedule an appointment or stop by drop-in hours to talk to your adviser and ensure that you are headed in the right direction.
- Start that job search: While it’s true that many job and internship applications for communications majors don’t open until closer to the spring, it’s never too early to start thinking about how you might want to spend your summer. Right now, you can start doing research about when applications open and the materials that you’ll need to prepare in order to apply. It can’t hurt to get started!
From all of us at PRSSA, best of luck with the rest of your semester!
