Family vacation ends with a few good memories and multiple emotional scars

OUTER BANKS, NC – This year’s vacation has ended, leaving this family with a singular positive memory and numerous occasions with emotional ramifications still to come.

As the Gordon family embarked on the long journey home in their Chevy Equinox minivan, each family member reflected on the ups and downs, mostly downs, of their week-long beach vacation.

“I remember we went to this tremendous restaurant and I had one of the best meals I’ve enjoyed all year, but I also have a much more distinct memory of my parents aimlessly screaming at each other over one of them slightly messing up the directions,” said little Timmy Gordon to his imaginary friend riding in the middle of the car.

“The view of the beach from our cottage was just so lovely and watching the sunset each night was like a dream. But my husband taking phone calls from a strange woman and increasing my underlying fear of infidelity was a little more than concerning,” said the family matriarch, Camille.

“Not to mention the sudden realization that my children no longer need my support began chipping at my already weak sense of self-worth on the second day of our trip,” she finished.

Not to be left out, Steven Gordon, the resident dad of the Gordon clan, also had his one golden moment, and many complaints about the week.

“Sure, the ocean washing over my feet is nice, but the cost of everything was just through the roof! What do they make the burgers here with? Gold? Just ridiculous! Not to mention my nagging wife and bratty kids refuse to recognize how much this cost me! I get one week free from the office each summer, and I have to spend it with these jerks. Luckily Rebecca is waiting for me in a Holiday Inn hotel room when I get home,” Steven said in a disgruntled manner.

All in all, it was just another standard family vacation for the Gordons, echoing thousands of other summer vacations taking place all over the U.S.
