We recommend registering to vote online—it’s quick and easy! But if you’d prefer, you can register by mail or in person at an approved government office.

If you are already registered but you have moved within the county since you last voted, you must update your address by the deadline, which can also be done online, by mail, or in person. See below for relevant links.

Register to vote online or update your address. If you want to vote by mail, you can also request your mail-in ballot when applying.

Check your voter registration status or find your polling location.

Additional instructions on registering to vote or updating your information by mail or in person. Registration forms to mail in can be downloaded and printed from this site in English, Spanish, Chinese (traditional and simplified), and Vietnamese. A list of state government offices where you can register to vote can also be found here.

Voting

Voting by mail

To vote by mail, you must request your ballot. This can be done online or you can print and mail in an application here. Once you have applied for your mail-in ballot, you can track your ballot status here.

When your ballot arrives, read the instructions carefully. Your ballot could be invalid if you do not closely follow the instructions. When you have filled out your ballot, enclose it in the secrecy envelope. Then place the sealed secrecy envelope in the return envelope. Seal the return envelope and sign where indicated. If you do not seal your ballot in the secrecy envelope or sign the declaration on the return envelope your vote will not be counted.

Once your ballot is signed and sealed, it’s time to deliver it! You can return your ballot by mail, in person at the county elections office, or in a secure ballot drop box. Drop box locations can be found here. After you return your ballot, track its status here to make sure it’s counted.

Request a mail in ballot but change your mind later? Bring your ballot and envelope to your polling location on election day and you will be able to vote in person. If you don’t have your ballot, you will be allowed to complete a provisional ballot in person on election day.

If you apply for your mail in ballot in person at the county elections office or at a satellite elections office, you can receive, complete and return your ballot on the spot—no mail required! You just need to register to vote before requesting your ballot. The county elections office is located at:

Willowbank Office Building
420 Holmes St
Bellefonte, PA 16823

The Bryce Jordan Center is the satellite elections office for Centre County. To minimize risk associated with COVID-19, there are appointment slots available to control the number of people present and ensure social-distancing is maintained.

Voting in Person

To vote in person, you must go to the polling place for your precinct on election day, between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. You can find your polling location here or here.

When you arrive, an election official will confirm your identity and eligibility. If you are a first time voter in Pennsylvania, you must bring a form of ID. A list of valid identification can be found here.

You will then be directed to complete and submit your ballot.

To prepare for the polls ahead of time, you can view a sample ballot for your precinct here.
