National Writing Project at Risk

Let the courage that the Egyptian people showed this year give us strength to also raise our voices for those things that are vitally important to the quality of our lives: an educated citizenry! We know that writing is vital to the development of the intellect. As students read less, the quality of their writing also declines… and with that, the decline of their language skills which would enable them to also think critically and in more complex ways. Clearly, we live in difficult times with complex problems that will need minds capable of navigating and solving them. If the government will not support this, we must raise our voices (and pens) and not succumb to apathy, but speak up and demand the support we need to build a better world through education!

I support the funding of the National Writing Project
