Before Class

Class membership is open to all Penn State students (undergraduate and graduate), faculty, staff, and community members. If you have a Penn State email, then please fill out this Participation form. You’ll need the following details:

• Club: Shotokan Karate-do
• President: Aditya Basu

Coming to Class

All you have to do is to show up for the trainings and train. Just wear comfortable clothing. No Gi (uniform) is required to start, but if you would like to purchase a Gi let us know. You will need a Gi if you wish to test or participate in tournaments.

No previous martial arts experience is required to train. If you have trained in Shotokan karate before, you can wear whatever belt you currently have, but it will not be formally recognized until you have tested with the club (unless you are already a member of the ISKF).
