PAS#9: Snapchat BFF List Is Back!

Would you look at that? Snapchat, a well-known application available on smartphones where individuals take pictures that others can view for ten seconds or less, has finally reinstated the famous “Best Friends” list after a long hiatus of not knowing who your crush was talking to. A couple months ago, Snapchat allowed anyone on your contacts to view the top three people you were talking to. Let’s face it. That was one of the main reasons why we used Snapchat. We had to see the person our crush was talking to, and once Snapchat updated their new application, everybody started complaining and whining. It wasn’t because of the new perks that Snapchat made available to us; it was the fact that they removed the “Best Friends” list. People were furious and started complaining how awful the application was all together. Ratings for Snapchat decreased tremendously, and Snapchat seemed useless to most people because they couldn’t creep on others. After a long wait, Snapchat has finally brought back the list but in a different manner though. Rather than everybody seeing who your best friends are, only you will know who your real BFF is on Snapchat. They have created this new way of indicating who you’ve been talking to and who you haven’t with six emojis. Each of these new emojis has a different meaning to them – a gold heart indicates that you’re #1 best friends with that other individual, the sunglass emoji means he or she shares a mutual friend on their “Best Friends” list, and a fire emoji means that you’ve been consecutively sending snaps to the other individual. Snapchat also included a “Needs Love” notification for people you haven’t snapped a selfie to in a while. It’s obviously not the same as it was before, but now you can act like a detective and find whether or not your crush is your BFF and vice versa. Another feature that Snapchat added was a little moon icon on the top left. If you have updated the application, then you would have noticed that Snapchat has included an icon for pictures taken in low light. The camera was absolutely awful in the dark, but now with the new capability to take pictures with the brightness, it offers an image where you can actually see what’s supposed to be shown. Welcome back, Snapchat! Welcome back!
