Laboratory Techniques: (WHEL) Perform Immunoassays on a variety of platforms: Chemiluminescent on the Immulite Classic DOS-based system and Immulite 1000 Windows based system; RadioImmunoAssay work using test tubes, I-125, and a Perkins-Elmer Gamma Counter; and bench top ELISAs, both kit-based and an in-house assay. Prepare Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) forms for submission to the IBC review board. Draw and process blood from human participants for research studies. Train in laboratory protocols and maintain documentation for a staff of fifteen to twenty PI, undergraduate, and graduate students. Oversee, conduct, and summarize data entered on participant results. Maintain lab safety, water purification systems, and freezer farm for nine laboratories; conduct annual inventories; and order laboratory supplies in support of participant sample collection and subsequent assays.
