Today marked a very special day for me. It was the first time I have ever collected Odonata specimens, and boy was it quite fun! My team and I traveled to one of State College’s majestic sites, containing a diverse selection of odonate fauna, Ten Acre Pond.

Initially, I had no idea what I was doing but I figured the best way to begin was by getting my feet wet and that is exactly what I did. Several minutes later, after actively searching for an ideal hunting location, I finally found the perfect spot. Within seconds of settling, I swung my net at the first dragonfly I encountered and I was absolutely thrilled to have captured it.

Not too long after my first capture, I was able to quickly snag this beautiful dragonfly.

All in all, my time at the Frost is going very well and I am extremely fortunate to have such an intelligent and supportive team joining me on my journey!
