Came across this photo, which reminded me of my days as an undergrad (a fair bit later than the 1950s, mind you).
I was fortunate enough to spend several summers, and even several courses, immersed in fieldwork – New Mexico, Arizona, California, Sonora … fond and inspiring memories. I remember the anticipation I felt, as we packed up the Suburban for the next incredible adventure. Who knows what animals we’d see! It makes me want to re-read Hafner 2007 (written in the context of mammalogy but definitely relevant to entomology) and start planning for my next Insect Diversity and Evolution class.
