Here’s a thorny beast for week 14 of Friday Night Lice. It’s a relatively large louse, but with a stubby body and a dense coat of thick setae. Looks like there are some long setae around the “neck”, but I managed not to get them in focus. I love the little tuft of setae at the apex of the abdomen!
Any opinion as to what the mammalian host of this louse species might be? Can you guess what habitat the host lives in? Leave your guesses as comments below! We’ll post the answer on Monday.
