Jess and Emily Night 2

Today we went to Husqvarna! Although unfortunately we overslept we were able to actually speak at length with the HR employee. She informed us of the knowledge network among companies whom are not direct competitors in Sweden. We thought this was efficient and tends to fit in with what we have observed of Sweden thus far. She also spoke about parental leave policies and the ways in which they facilitate career progression in conjunction with personal goals. We also thought it was interesting to observe the corporate culture in Sweden, and to viscerally experience the low power distance dimension. Further we thought it was interesting to hear her talk about the ways in which cultural clashes can complicate working across borders. Initially we thought that the language itself would be a barrier, as miscommunication is common even when both parties are fluent in English. However she mostly talked about cultural differences, particularly referencing China and the ways in which differences in labor laws can complicate things. We also thought it was interesting that across Husqvarna globally they tried to integrate training policies. So Husqvarna Brazil will be similar to Husqvarna Sweden. Finally, we thought it was interesting that they also had unpaid internships in Sweden.
