I just finished using the SplashTop app to give a presentation at the AEA’s annual teaching conference. If you are unfamiliar with Splashtop, the app uses wi-fi to transfer the image on your laptop screen to the iPad. This has the potential to be a very useful presentation tool since I was freed from podium and able to move among the audience and the iPad also gives you the opportunity to draw graphs with your fingers and annotate your slides. Once I get down the gestures — I messed up a few times — I think I’ll be a more effective presenter and I’ll also have a new classroom tool.

Score this round: tie

Updated Score: Effective use of the iPad in research 2, iPad distractions/limitations = 2.
