There are a ton of rumors and conspiracies that cell phones cause cancer, and are dangerous to use consistently. The National Cancer Institute has a Fact Sheet that talks about cell phones and cancer risks, and some key ideas about the truth on cancer and cell phones. This Fact Sheet focused on answering questions that most people ask about cell phones concerning cancer. They started out with the question that I see as most important. That question is why are people concerned that cell phones cause cancer. Basically, they answer this question by saying that cell phones emit radio waves, and that the number of people owning cell phones and using them more frequently have gone up because of that. Because cell phones are used more often in society now, there is more concern about health problems pertaining to the use of them.
Since cell phones produce radio-frequency energy, contact with this can increase the risk of getting cancer. There have been studies done to prove how cell phones affect the brain, but it was concluded that the health issues could not be identified. There are definitely certain damaging outcomes that can occur by overusing cellular devices, but they are not as big as a problem as other things that cause health issues. Most studies show that the radio frequency from cell phones have not caused damaging health issues. Studies relating cell phones and cancer/health problems have been known to be very inconsistent. Most “expert organizations” as said in the website, have finalized that even though there are many concerns, there is no scientific evidence to prove that cell phones cause cancer.
