No one likes to hear it, but it’s worse not to know it: You have bad breath. To not let this awkward thing happen, you gotta take good care of your teeth. First thing to do so is to brush your teeth regularly. According to a research ,62% of participants said they went to a dentist every six months. And 71% said they brushed their teeth twice a day. So what’s your number here?
It is really often that we get up in the morning and realize we have bad breath.Even though we didn’t eat anything before bed,we still got unpleasant breath in the morning. As a matter of fact, bad breath is caused by odor-producing bacteria that grow in the mouth. Luckily, if you don’t have bad breath that’s because you brush and floss regularly. HOWEVER, if are too lazy to brush your teeth, bacteria can accumulate on the bits of food left in your mouth and that’s the most common way that people get bad breath.
More importantly, other than breath problem, brushing teeth will help prevent heart disease.
According to BBC “It is known that inflammation in the body, including in the mouth and gums, has an important role in the build up of clogged arteries, which can lead to a heart attack. But this is the first time that researchers have looked at whether the frequency of teeth brushing has any bearing on the risk of developing heart disease.”Moreover, brushing teeth will help prevent Gum disease. More teeth are lost because of gum problems than because of tooth decay. And brushing teeth regularly can effectively prevent this disease.
So, here are some tips how you should brush your teeth.
- Clean the outer surfaces of your upper teeth, then your lower teeth
- Clean the inner surfaces of your upper teeth, then your lower teeth
- Clean the chewing surfaces
- For fresher breath, be sure to brush your tongue, too

One of my brothers and I actually learned the hard way how important it is to brush your teeth. When we were younger we both got gingivitis which is the inflammation of your gums from not brushing and flossing regularly (which we were both guilty of). I completely agree that brushing regularly and correctly is so important for your oral health and breath. The reason some people have such bad morning breath is because he/she didn’t brush their teeth the night before. Ew!

Brushing your teeth often and correct is extremely important but who knew it could even benefit your heart to brush your teeth. Personally I can’t go anywhere in the morning or even fall asleep at night if my teeth are not brushed; it just doesn’t feel right. It was weird to read that humans just naturally have bad breath, the only way to fix it is brushing correctly which people often don’t do right. You should be brushing for around two minutes making sure you brush everywhere but people are often in a rush and skip these important steps but knowing how important it is keeps me doing it day in and day out.
Brushing teeth twice a day is definitely important for anyone and everyone around them because no one likes it when they smell bad breath from the person they are talking to. However, it is possible that over brushing teeth can be harmful too. According to Delta Dental, over brushing your teeth can cause receding gum lines which can expose the roots of the teeth and make them very sensitive. Delta Dental suggests not to brush too hard, but to brush more effectively by reaching all the spots on teeth that plaque builds up on. So when brushing it is about quality not quantity.
