Penn State Berks Kinesiology is the first Commonwealth campus to apply and receive recognition from Exercise is Medicine separate from University Park thanks to the hard work of faculty member Helen Hartman and others. In March 2016 they were recognized as a bronze level EiMOC campus, and in 2017 achieved silver level recognition. Penn State Berks is one of the commonwealth campuses to have a 4-year Kinesiology degree program. Harrisburg and Altoona launched their Kinesiology programs in 2016 and are aiming to be recognized soon! Berks kicked off their EiM week in Fall 2015 with a walk lead by their Chancellor. Here are the details of some of the EiM activities at Berks
- “WWAK”- Walk With A Kinesiologist (WWAK) is a program where faculty, staff, and students are welcome to take a brisk walk around Berks campus during lunch hour, lead by a member of the Kinesiology department.
- FITT- Fun, actIve, healThy, youTh or FITT is a program with two separate branches; one for youth and one for faculty of Penn State Berks. Designed to encourage physical activity and educate about healthy lifestyle choices, this program is helping both the families of Reading, PA and the faculty of Penn State Berks.
