2017
2016-2017 marked several significant milestones for EIMOC at Penn State. In October, we held the fifth annual Exercise is Medicine Week. At that time, the Department of Kinesiology and the College of Health and Human Development announced the creation of the full-time Exercise is Medicine Coordinator Position, currently held by Zack Papalia. In January, University Health Services officially implemented physical activity as a vital sign for all patients, meaning all on-campus health care providers would consult all patients on the importance of physical activity moving forward. Also, in June we were honored at the American College of Sports Medicine Annual Meeting as a Gold-Level EIM Campus, the highest recognition level possible. You can read more about our award here and a bit about our journey to gold. We thank our campus partners for their contribution in this achievement. We couldn’t have done it without you. Additionally, Penn State Berks earned Silver-Level EIM Status, making Penn State the only university in the world with multiple campuses formally recognized.
