SiOWfa15: Science in Our World: Certainty and Controversy

Hi everyone in my SC 200 class! I am Alexandra Herr–but everyone calls me Ali–and I am just starting my freshman year here at Penn State. I’m taking this course basically because it filled requirements and fit in my schedule. I’m excited to take it because the topics are very different than anything I’ve ever learned about in a science class and actually seem interesting.

I’m from Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, which is 5 minutes from the great city of Harrisburg!! I like running, taking exercise classes and hanging out with my dog. Here’s a picture of her as a baby:

I am not a science person. In high school, I told the necessary classes (Biology, Physics, Chemistry, etc) but was never interested enough in any of them to take it up as a major. This is why I’m taking this class. The description explicitly says how it is NOT for science people (aka ME). I can’t wait to learn about if men are toxic or not and about a peacocks tail!
