Eat more Veggies!

Todays’ society has reached milestones in the fields of health. Doctors are now able to treat numerous colds, viruses, and diseases. Humans of today feel somewhat “safe” that these scientific milestones can help cure them of almost any health issue. But let it be known that, it is better to take care of your body before your health becomes a threat to your life. In other words, watch what you eat!

You may be wondering what exactly is this way of “taking care of your body”. The answer is not something new, yet the answer is something that is usually overlooked; EAT MORE NATURAL FOODS! Natural foods are the foods grown from the ground of earth, meaning they are the foods of nature. An article from The Huffington Post wrote of studies which showed that vegetarians live longer, healthier lives than the average meat eater!

The nutrients of fruits and vegetables are essential to maintaining a healthy functioning body. One of the key concepts to maintaining a healthy body involves proper nutrition. For those meat lovers, I am not telling you to lay off those bloody steaks; I am telling you to incorporate fruits and vegetables into your daily lives! Raw fruits and vegetables usually have the components to help the organs of the body remain free of chronic diseases. Eating “raw” foods is the healthiest way to absorb your nutrients. As your foods are not being over processed, you are not losing any of it’s original make up, that will aid your body.

Proper nutrition can easily be accomplished by having a colorful daily intake of various fruits and vegetables. An article from the website coreperformance.com goes into the depth of the actual benefits between specific food colors and the human body.

“Eating a variety of colorful food provides vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to nourish your body…”

I’m pretty sure that nearly everyone has heard of the phrase, “An apple a day, keeps the doctor away.” An apple is just one of the numerous foods of nature that can helps prevent a future doctor appointment from showing up. My mother always told me that bananas were good to eat for stress, and that eating carrots were good for maintaining great vision. I’d like to say the FARMaceutical way is better than the Pharmaceutical way (when dealing with minor issues of health of course!).

Here’s a photo that actually shows what scientists have found out about specific food colors and their benfits to the human body:

In the Western culture, unhealthy eating is the culture norm. Mainly in the United States, people are over weight due to poor diet and lack of exercise. Yet, in the Eastern Hemisphere it is apparent that they are not only less obese, but have a healthier diet plan as well. People who eat more vegetables provide a correlation with the idea that healthy eating provides a healthier lifestyle. Throughout parts of Asia the idea of eating more fruits and vegetables has become a lifestyle. The Huffington Post says that on average “vegans are 30 pounds lighter,” and “lean people are also more likely to exercise regularly, eat plants, and avoid cigarettes than overweight people.”

This video of eastern monks (from happyhealthpage.com), goes to show that eating healthy not only benefits humans physically, but mentally as well! I hope next time when your thinking of getting that donut, you grab the apples instead!
