Social Media Marketing assistance for SCC partners

Professor Lori Reno teaches MKTG 480: Intermediate Social Media Marketing. In this course, Prof. Reno has students work with actual clients with an identified need – assistance with strategies and ideas for improvement in their social media presence. Two of the student teams from Spring 2018 worked with two of the SCC community partners.

Tree identification quiz progress in 2017-2018

Students in both the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 semesters of IST 440W: Information Sciences and Technology Integration and Problem Solving worked to develop a web-based tour of the trees along Ridley Creek State Park’s multi-use trail. Under the mentorship of Professor Nannette D’Imperio, students used tree data from Excel spreadsheets (compiled by student researcher Bildine Massaquio) and photos (taken by Prof. Karen Theveny in Communications) to create an updated and interactive educational product. The work will be continuing in the fall to integrate the GPS-located tree database with the interactive quiz developed in both semesters.

In the Fall 2017 semester, the team was comprised of:  Abtin Toshtzar, Joshua Burton, Lisa MacDavid, and James VanTrieste.

In the Spring semester, the team was comprised of:  Austin Johnson, Devin Mader, John Navickas, and Andrew Sadik.

Five-Minute Reads on Sustainability

With our partner the Pennsylvania Earth Science Teachers Association (PAESTA), the students enrolled in EARTH 100 (Environment Earth) are authoring three sets of stories relating to sustainability that teachers can use the middle school and high school classroom. Penn State Brandywine students have completed their third and final round of short stories on sustainability, with each story at a length of 1,500 words (a five-minute read).

The stories have been uploaded to the PAESTA online collection of teaching resources, the PAESTA Classroom: http://www.paesta.org/classroom/five-minute-reads-sustainability
