Visit the Central African Republic

9/10/2014

The Central African Republic is one of the most vibrant places you could ever want to see and has various species of wildlife that are quite the sight.  As you can see in the picture above there are beautiful rivers to look at surrounded by jungle.  The climate is tropical and experiences a wet season in which it rains almost everyday.  These rainy seasons are what leads to having such amazing rivers in which people use to travel on and can be incredible to explore as you observe the wildlife and amazing scenery that surrounds the banks.  As you can see from the picture the Central African Republic is quite vibrant, the jungles are full of life and plants that can only be found in these areas.  Within these jungles are some of the most jaw-dropping waterfalls you will ever see, the rivers cut through the jungle and rush over the edge creating a movie-like scene.

As can be seen in this picture seeing these sights in person would be an event you will remember for the rest of your life.  The Central African Republic is a great example of how great of a place Africa is to travel to.  Many people do not realize all of the sights and fun that can be had when traveling to Africa.  The Central African Republic is also home to many different types of wildlife that can be seen in their natural habitat.  Experiencing these animals in the wild instead of a cage at the zoo is so much more exciting and memorable.  There are many beautiful species that can be seen like forest elephants and lowland gorillas located in the southern regions.  In the north there are lions, leopards and rhinos along with many other types of wildlife.  One of the best parts about visiting the Central African Republic is the area has not had so much human interference as most places on earth.  There is a very small amount of light pollution so at night the stars can be seen incredibly clearly, it really helps you to connect with what life was like before humans began building cities and polluting the air.  The natural beauty that exists in the Central African Republic is astonishing and unfortunately most people will never experience it.

Not only is the landscape and physical features incredible, the people who live there are as well.  These people live everyday so differently than Americans do but their way of life is so interesting to experience.  The villages work together as they all try to survive of off the land by growing crops, gathering food and hunting. While this feat is not easy the part that really should be touched on is the sense of togetherness and family that the Central African Republicans have, they look out for one another and always try to help when they can.  Ideals and values like this have been seemingly lost in America and need to return being a good person should never go out of style.  So book your flight today for a life changing experience as you see unforgettable rivers, jungles, waterfalls, wildlife, and an amazing culture.

Madagascar: The Diverse Wonder

250px-Landscape_Madagascar_01

Madagascar, the land of open opportunity and breathtaking scenery, has mostly untouched land and tons of chances for you. The land stretches to over 220,000 square miles that provide a variety of landscapes, water features, and grass zones for you to enjoy. The main geographical features are divided into five areas, the Tsaratanana Massif, west coast, central highlands, southwest, and the east coast. With so much difference in one continent, it is likely for you to move from a desert dry area, to a windy grass plain and finally end up at a thick forest. This provides a variety of wildlife, and many outstanding sights. Madagascar, above all countries, provides more variety in a small area than you ever could imagine.

Madagascar’s water features provide a diverse and calm setting. Many rivers start in the central and northern regions and end up toward the east coast, draining into the Indian Ocean. Since the high elevation compared to the east coast, many of these rivers flow quickly and some over waterfalls. The rivers that end in the west flow more gradually and end in the Mozambique Channel. Lake Alaotra in the north is the largest lake in Madagascar and is home to many rare species. Overall the quality and beauty of the lakes and rivers of Madagascar add greatly to the experience of the island.

The central highlands of Madagascar are one of the most prominent features of the country. Rolling hills, marshes, and rice fields dominate the landscape while providing beauty and elegance to the surrounding countryside. The central highland differentiates itself from the east coast due to its higher elevation, which falls off into the east coast. While in the west coast the highlands fall slowly and softly. The central highlands are home to the capital of Madagascar, Antananarivo. Being the highest region in the Madagascar, the high plains or plateau, has many rocky areas and volcanic formations. The highest point in the area tops out around 8,300 feet and multiple hills reside in the central plains.

640px-Adansonia_grandidieri02

The Tsaratanana Massif in the north contains the highest point in Madagascar at around 9,400 feet. More prominent features are the natural harbor of Antsiranana and the former volcano Montagne d’Ambre. This differs from the west coast which is more curved compared the straight-line coast of the east. The curvature makes for harbors and bays in the areas. Some of these areas are still vacant and are believed to have massive agricultural upside to them.

Finally, the east coast region of Madagascar is much lower than the central heights and steep bluffs connect the two regions. The coastline of the east coast is a straight-line with a small bay in the north. The dense forest of the Masoala National Park juts out to form a peninsula. The beach falls into the ocean and many dangers sharks and sea life can be seen from the coast.

The climate of Madagascar has multiple regions. Desert like conditions are prominent in the southern region. The coastal areas are tropical and the inland is temperate. Trade winds rising from the east bring the most rain, while the west does not receive these winds. There are two seasons in Madagascar, the wet season and the dry season, both run for about half the year.

The luster pearl–Ivory Coast

Ivory Coast, as its name suggested, is located in the west coast of Africa. Ivory Coast used to be the most prosperous country in the Africa during the Cold War. People saw Ivory Coast as a luster pearl in West Africa in the past time. Although today’s Ivory Coast is no longer the most prosperous country in the whole Africa, Ivory Coast is still a good place to visit for the old cities, historical buildings and incredible natural beauty.

There are two major cities in Ivory Coast: Abidjan and Yamoussoukro. Abidjan was the capital city in the past and Yamoussoukro is the capital city right now. However, Abidjan is actually the center of economics and culture till now. The whole city Abidjan was built on several small islands and peninsulas near the Ebrie lake. Those islands are connected by bridges, which make Abidjan a beautiful coast city.  Since Ivory Coast was one of the colony countries of France and Abidjan was the main city in the past, Abidjan has a French style. The beautiful streets, fantastic parks and historical universities made Abidjan the “little Paris” in the West Africa. Besides, Abidjan is located on the west coast of African continent, where near the Atlantic Ocean. As a result, the beaches in Abidjan is absolutely fantastic. One of the most famous beach in Abidjan is Assinie Beach. There are clear sky, cool sea water and soft white sands. It’s a perfect place for vacation. It’s not as crowded as Miami Beach and it’s not as expensive as Cancun. Besides beach, the location of Abidjan brings prosperous port economy. Abidjan Port was the biggest port in West Africa and the second biggest port in the whole Africa. If you walk along the port, you can not only enjoy the warm breeze, but also see how prosperous the economy of Ivory Coast was and how they created the “20-year miracle” during the Cold War.

Another wonderful city in Ivory Coast is the capital city Yamoussoukro. The government of Ivory Coast changed the capital city into Yamoussoukro in 1983. Yamoussoukro started to become famous and dynamic since 1983. One of the most important crop in Yamoussoukro is cacao. There was a famous saying that one half of the cacaos we used nowadays is from Ivory Coast. The plantation of cacao is the core of Ivory Coast economy. Besides the development of economy, the culture and public infrastructure developed a lot since 80s. One of the most famous building in Yamoussoukro is Basilique de Notre Dame de la Paix de Yamoussoukro–the peace Notre Dame church of Yamoussoukro. This church is largest Catholic church all over the world. It was built during 1985 and 1989. It cost the government of Ivory Coast 3 billion dollars to build this church. After 1989, the church became the most famous and hottest attraction in Yamoussoukro.

The climate of Ivory Coast is tropical rainy climate, so there monsoon in Ivory Coast. In order to have a wonderful vacation in Ivory Coast, the best time to visit Ivory Coast is late spring. You can have the best travel experience in Ivory Coast if you visit in April or May.

To draw a brief conclusion, Ivory Coast is definitely a fantastic place for travel. Welcome to Ivory Coast.

It is a surreal place to explore as it contains fascinating mix of cultures and attractions. As the largest country in West Africa, Mali shares thousands of kilometers of land borders with many other nations such as Nigeria and Ivory Coast. Its geography is special also with the majority of its terrain being arid or semi-desert. Thus, just 5% of Mali’s land can support agriculture. The Niger River serves a crucial role such as irrigating, and transporting food!

The country’s climate ranges from tropical Savannah (trees and grass, with tree density increasing as one travels south) in the south to arid desert in the north, with Sahel in between. Much of the country receives negligible rainfall; droughts are frequent. Late May or early June (depending on how north one is) to mid or late October or early November is the rainy season!

Culture – Although there is much to see in Mali, its mosques are perhaps the most impressive sights. Timbuktu in particular is known to be dotted with these beautiful places of worship such as the Sidi Yahaya, Sankore and Djingerebur, and the Kankan Moussa in the ancient city of Gao is a must see!

Welcome to Djibouti

Welcome to Djibouti

The Republic of Djibouti, geographically located at coordinates 11 30 N, 43 00 E, is perched on the northeast coast of the Horn of Africa. It is strategically located at the crossroads of the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea. Border-wise, she has Eritrea to her north for 68mi, Ethiopia stretches from the west to the southwest with a shared border line of 217mi, and to her south lies Somalia for another 36mi. Djibouti’s land area is 8958mi². Total water area is 7.7220mi². Djibouti has a total coastline of 195mi. The capital, Djibouti, which is also the largest city in the country is located on the southern coast of the Gulf of Tadjoura A 2007 estimate put the country’s population around 773,000. French and Arabic are the official language, although Somali and Afar are widely spoken. Djibouti is dominated by Moslems who account for about 93% of the population and Christians are about 7%. 0.23mi of her coastline forms the narrow Gulf of Tadjoura. The northern coast near the Eritrean border faces the Strait of Bab al Mandab on the southwestern tip of Yemen.
This country is formed of a triangular depression. This is as a result of the collision of the general tectonic trends of the Great Rift Valleys of Eastern Africa. These run North-South and NorthWest-SouthEast and have generated a complex fragmented relief of high blocks and subsidence zones. Formed by the Ethiopian Highland in the west, The Somali Plateau in the south and the Danakil Horst in the east, Cenozoic sedimentary and volcanic rocks make up most of the country.
Her climate can best be described as that of a desert, having attributes of being mostly torrid and dry.Djibouti has about 163.5 mm (6.4 in) of rainfall per year. The driest month is June, averaging about 0.1mm of rain as compared to April which has about 28.9mm of rain, making it the wettest month in the region.
There are 5 lakes in Djibouti. Lake Abbe is the ultimate destination of the waters of the Awash River. It lies at the Afar Triple Junction, the central meeting place for the three pieces of the Earth’s crust, a defining feature of the Afar Depression. Here three pieces of Earth’s crust are each pulling away from that central point, though not all at the same speed. Lake Afambo is one of a chain of lakes into which the Awash river empties its waters. It is located at the eastern end of the Afar region of EthiopiaThe lake lies on a roughly north-south axis, 13 kilometers long by two wide, having 1760 hectares of open water.[1]Afambo receives its inflow from Lake Gummare from a channel at its northern point, and has its outflow in the swamps on its southwest shores where it empties into Lake Bario. Lake Assal is a crater lake in central-western Djibouti. It is located at the western end of Gulf of Tadjoura in the Tadjoura Region, touching Dikhil Region, at the top of the Great Rift Valley, some 120 km (75 mi) west of Djibouti city. Lake Assal is a saline lake which lies 155 m (509 ft) below sea level in the Afar Triangle, making it the lowest point on land in Africa and the third-lowest land depression on Earth after the Dead Sea and Sea of Galilee. No outflow occurs from the lake, and due to high evaporation, the salinity level of its waters is 10 times that of the sea, making it the most saline in the world after Don Juan Pond.[1][2][3][4][5]. Lake Assal is the world’s largest salt reserve. Te other lakes are Lake Gummare and Lake Bario. Djibouti has no permanent rivers but instead has a number of permanently or intermittently dry riverbeds called Wadis.
Djibouti is an ideal vacation destination for the entire family. She has year round favorable weather for vacationing. Warm and sometimes humid, the average temperature is 29.9 degrees Celsius (85.8 degrees Fahrenheit). This makes outdoors activity fun. Djibouti has a full palette for all those who like to have fun, and have a feel of nature in the process. We have it all, from a cool day at the beach to hiking and climbing.
For those who like the water, Djibouti boasts of a variety of beaches with white sands, whist others have darker sands, and some also consist of volcanic rock features. You can just chill out at the beach during the day and enjoy a cool breeze while you soak in the beauty, and relax with the calm waters providing serene sounds. Alternatively, you can party in the evening with other tourists and locals when you attend one of her world famous beach partys, where you can listen or dance to, contemporary local music with a mix of arabian and western infused music while you enjoy cool drinks in a scenic atmosphere. One can also sample exotic cuisine and snacks from one of the numerous international class restaurants that line the beaches.
The Djibouti tourist board sets strict and well enforced safety and sanitation standards for hotels and restaurants that leave the customer with nothing less than a great variety of clean and world class hotels, resorts, restaurants, night clubs and discos. Your only worry when you patronize any of these services is your potential and tendency to overstay, which your are more than welcome to do. From prompt and courteous service, to well dressed and professional staff who aim to make your stay an enjoyable one. Our hotels and resorts boast of industry leading spas and recreational facilities that are well managed and maintained.
If you would rather tour the country, there are various breathtaking sites, historical places, lakes, rivers, mountains. The climate and weather supports such adventures giving you nothing but cool breezes all the way. There is the occasional rainfall that further cools the weather. Your only problem would be where to start and in which direction to head.

BENIN : THE TOTAL PACKAGE.

Whenever I think of going on holiday even as an African, I think of exotic places like the Caribbeans or Huawei or the ancient cities with their awesome architecture like Rome, Spain and Paris.  These places are great to kick back, relax and enjoy the view but when the country Benin was assigned to me something changed. I did a little research and I was amazed at what I found out.

Pendjari National Park, Benin.

Pendjari National Park, Benin.

Benin, although a small country has a high concentration of tourist attractions you cannot afford to miss out on. The diversity of the landscape is simply incredible. Benin consists of the coastal plain, the plateau, the elevated plateau, the savannah and the hills. With all this in one country there is so much to explore. Some of these landscapes include The Lake Nokoue one of West Africa’s largest lake towns with a fascinating and naturally beautiful scene, The Waterfalls in Tanangou and awesome beaches in the Grand Popo city.

Benin Hills

Travelling to Benin, you would arrive at the International airport in Cotonou and 45mins away is Porto Novo, the country’s capital with a lot of major museums telling the tale of the French colonial rule in Benin. To the north, it’s a whole different picture you get to see elephants, cheetahs, lions, more than 500 species of birds and many more at The Pendjari National Park and W National Park. These parks are set in the beautiful hilly highlands. You get the experience one of the best wildlife areas in West Africa. It is truly a breathtaking scenery.

Next, you can explore another “Genre” of Benin: Abomey, a city which is now a UNESCO World Heritage site and the country’s top tourist destination. There you will find the palace ruins and temples of the once powerful Dahomey kingdom which became very powerful due to slave trade until the late 19th century. The coast of Benin which was renamed to The Slave Coast was the largest center for slave trade in West Africa and a famous monument has been put up there in memory of those who were kidnapped, sold and shipped to various parts of the world. Abomey takes you on an amazing journey down Benin’s history lane.

Point of no return, Slave coast.

Benin is also well known as the birthplace of Voodoo. There are several Voodoo temples, roadside fetishes and fetish markets in Cotonou, the capital. The Grande Marche Du Dantopka is a famous fetish market in Benin. It is also known as the Skull and Skin-filled fetish market; so for those who are looking for a mysterious spiritual adventure definitely stop by some of these places.

Palace Wall in Abomey, Benin.

I think it is important to add that Benin is the most stable and safe country in West Africa so don’t be afraid to get out there and experience the variety that just one country has to offer. Benin is the total package. Whether you are looking forward to seeing wildlife, ancient ruins, museums, waterfalls, hills or even voodoo; Benin is definitely the country to visit it. Don’t miss out on all Benin has to offer! It’s the perfect tourist destination. Go on an adventure today and I promise you would not regret it!

Come and Visit Ethiopia!

Are you trying to decide where to go for your vacation? Do you feel like you are casually ignoring the beauty of nature because of your hectic life? Then why not enjoy and appreciate the natural beauty and the geography in Ethiopia? Ethiopia is the heart of natural contrasts; it has vast fertile West side, jungles, rivers, mountain ranges, and largest caves at Sof Omar. It is without doubt that some of the highest and most stunning places are found in the African continent!

I want to first introduce you to the jaggedly carved Simien Mountains, one of national parks of Ethiopia that covers the Simien Mountains and Ras Dashan, which are the highest point of Ethiopia. The margins of this high plateau consist of precipitous cliffs and deep, canyon style gorges. The cliff of the Simien Mountains, which forms small elevations, offer remarkable natal lookout points, as well as spectacular view from the observation points at Gidir Got and Imet Gogo, which are located in the center of the Park. Did you also know that this mountain not only provides remarkable view, also consists of endangered species such as the Ethiopian wolf and the walia, a wild goat? The biosphere of the Simien Mountains National Parkmm with its steep cliffs and cool climate at the altitude of the Erica tree line (3600 to 400m ash) make the survival of an ibex species endemic to the Simien Mountains to be possible. So, when you are hiking, you might be able to encounter these endangered species!

As you can see, it has an exotic setting with a breath-taking view on the landscape

A second fascinating place to visit is the Danakil Depression, also widely known as the Dallol depression, a desert area in the Afar region of Northeastern Ethiopia. Danakil Depression is a geological depression that resulted from the three tectonic plates in the Horn of Africa. It is not only the hottest region on earth, but also the most geographically active. It is a blisteringly hot desert, which has lava flows and salt plains and lakes below the sea level. Can you imagine how this would look like? It is a lifetime experience to see geological formation so strange, and so beautiful.

Dallol, in which Afar Depression is located, was a settlement in the northern Ethopia, Dallol’s temperature averages 94 degrees Fahrenheit, which is an annual average meaning that its temperature is relatively similar and extremely hot at any time of the year. When you walk on Dallol, it seems as though the colors are bursting from the ground and as if the color of rust are spouting out acrid flumes of sulfur. If there were no scorching heat and the smell of sulfur, you would be convinced that you are walking in a fairy tale land.

Many people visit Ethiopia – or hope to do so one day – because of its remarkable natural beauty, geography, and topography. It is worth visiting the simian mountains, Danakil Depression located in Dallol, and much more! It’s time to appreciate the natural surroundings, explore new places and to expand our knowledge about Ethiopia.

After go through some forests and some hot areas, you might want to chilled off. Why don’t you go west? There you will be right at the Tropical savanna climate. This area you might feel colder and less humid and it’s the best place to rest before you go to the next area. Now you are ready to do something great. I encourage you to go to the highland regions of Nigeria. It’s in the alpine climate. This region offer you many great sceneries. It’s very hot and dry almost of the year. Find some Ice cream and cold drinks then find some place to sit and thinking of your experience through the trip in Nigeria.

Now you are going around the entire country of Nigeria, but during your main geo trip; you might want to see some cultural place. The first place I recommend you to visit when you pass is The Long JuJu Shrine of Arochukwu. It’s an oracular shrine with cave belong to traditional religion. You can see the statue of Kamalu who is the guard of the shrine and the throne of judgment.
