Materials for students to purchase to participate in the series:
REQUIRED
- Raspberry Pi Kit (model 3b+ or newer): $60-$100 depending on GB size
- Recommended: Raspberry Pi 4 Basic Started Kit w/ 2GB RAM(should include at least a RPi4, fan cooled protection case – make sure you have access to the GPIO pins, and a power cord)
- NOTE: some kits may contain less or more… depending on how much you are looking to spend, there are plenty of options on Amazon to fit your budget.
- Recommended: Raspberry Pi 4 Basic Started Kit w/ 2GB RAM(should include at least a RPi4, fan cooled protection case – make sure you have access to the GPIO pins, and a power cord)
- MicroSD card (at least 8GB will suffice… 32GB recommended if you plan to continue using the Raspberry Pi in the future)
- Breadboard: ~$10
- There are various sizes of breadboards available to purchase. Due to a high volume of components in a couple of the projects, we recommend having at least medium size board (pictured below):
- Breadboard Jumper Wires (male-to-female, and female-to-female): $5-$10
Additional suggestions:
- USB-to-MicroSD adapter: ~$5
- If your laptop does not have a SD or microSD slot, you should look into purchasing an apapter. Anytime you have an SD card that you might want to flash an image onto, you will need the adapter.
