Green Matters: Household hazardous waste collection event

Date: Friday, April 26, 2013, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, April 27, 2013, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: Centre County Recycling & Refuse Authority located at 253 Transfer Road near the Nittany Mall off Route 26.

What: Insecticides, weed killers, pool chemicals, cleaners, poisons, corrosives, flammables, oil based paints, CFL bulbs and most other hazardous chemicals from households only.

We are not accepting latex paint, used motor oil, antifreeze, medications and alkaline batteries.

If you do not have space or time for a garden, or if you do but don’t have the variety you would like, remember that there are many local Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) offerings in the Center County area. For a list of these, please visit Buy Fresh Buy Local’s Centre County CSA List and sign up now for your weekly share of delicious and local fruits and vegetables for this year’s growing season. If you are not in Centre County, visit http://www.buylocalpa.org/ to search for fresh food in your areas.

Green Team Seeks New Members

Ever want to try your hand at being green? The Library’s Green Team is looking for new members! You do not have to be knowledgeable about the subject, just eager to learn. We have some exciting new initiatives starting this year, so now is a great time to jump on board.

The first meeting will take place Wednesday, January 16, from 3pm-4pm, in 214 Davey Lab.
