Responding to disease outbreaks is challenging.  Advanced planning can facilitate faster response and mitigate disease spread.  We need to learn from previous and current outbreaks and act on lessons learned from successes and failures when preparing for future outbreaks.  We could have done better responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and will need to do better with the next epidemic.
