I signed up for this course because I thought it would be easy and I needed it as a prerequisite for my major, but after class today and reading the syllabus the class has struck me as interesting. I enjoy classes that favor critical thinking as opposed to rope memorization because I feel like I get much more of an understanding and a way of thinking rather than a bunch of knowledge that I don’t know what to do with.

I did not choose a science major not because I find it too challenging or boring, but because I was drawn to the competitive nature and high ceiling in business. I actually find science very interesting and see some of the same aspects in both fields, such as the competition to innovate or discover something first, the independent nature (entrepreneurs vs. researchers), and at the same time the progress that can be made when cooperation happens and ideas are shared and merged. I also love the “one man versus the world” stories that have occurred throughout scientific history such as the one you explained today, which are true stories of one man changing the world. When it came down to it, however, I chose business (maybe cause I do slightly loathe chemistry).
