The interactions of aerosol particles with light and clouds are the largest uncertainties in our understanding of the climate system. Our research group characterizes the phase transitions of aerosol particles to better understand the reactions they undergo in the atmosphere and how they take up water. The undergraduate working on this project will characterize the phase transitions of model aerosol particles using optical microscopy.
