Alternative hypotheses for Mars paleoshoreline topography – computer modeling in Python

Mars may have had an ocean 3+ billion years ago. Researchers have interpreted topographic features surrounding the hypothesized ocean basin as ancient shorelines to this ocean, but other hypotheses exist for the formation of these topographic features. In this project, a student will explore other hypotheses using the language Python to perform computer experiments designed to model evolving landscapes. A student very interested in learning Python, or with some experience already, would do well here.
