Alaskan Coastal Erosion

Alaska’s northern coastline is eroding, with rates accelerating in recent decades. Erosion rates and styles vary in space and time, depending on characteristics of the marine and terrestrial environment. Students will examine high resolution imagery from the past ~10 years to digitize coastlines and explore variability in coastal retreat.
