Effective Date: 06/28/2013 Standard Element: 3E, 4J
Purpose: To promote clinical faculty professional development in areas pertaining to clinical education and other physical therapy-related topics.
Policy: Penn State Hazleton will promote faculty development activities for the clinical education faculty based upon the needs of the clinical education faculty along with the promotion of improving the effectiveness of the clinical education faculty.
Procedures:
1. The ACCE will use informal communication, site visits or telephone conferences, documentation of communication, and the PTA Student Evaluation of Clinical Experience and Instruction Form to identify the needs of clinical education faculty and areas of improvement to promote effectiveness.
2. The ACCE will notify the SCCE of any negative evaluation results that pertain to the individual facility and/or clinical instructor.
3. Based on evaluation results, clinical education faculty development opportunities, will be based on these findings, to the clinical faculty and can be provided by the ACCE, PTA Program, and/or Penn State University.
4. Informal development will take place as needed through the recognition by the ACCE or through the request of the clinical education faculty member.
5. Formal development activities will take place at the Penn State Hazleton, telephone conferences, online/on-site as requested.
