Three clinical internships comprise the clinical education curriculum. These experiences are considered to be “full time”; i.e.; the student will be scheduled at a minimum of 36-40 hours per week and will be required to abide by the times determined by the clinical education faculty.
The first affiliation occurs in the last three weeks of the students third semester. This allows the student opportunity to interact with patients, PT’s, PTA’s and other allied health care personnel earlier in their academic career. Students will be able to utilize those skills and techniques learned in their prior academic coursework. This experience will consist of either an inpatient or outpatient setting appropriately accommodating the student based on the level of academic completion.
The second and third internships occur in the summer semester after completion of the didactic portion of the academic program, ensuring that all program expectations have been completed. The two terminal experiences will be scheduled within clinical facilities that will allow the student opportunity to build upon their previous clinical experience and additional academic preparation.
