Student rights and responsibilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act have been described by the Office for Disability Services. Students needing additional information about such services can access this via the Penn State web site at www.equity.psu.edu/ods. On this campus the person to contact is Jacqueline Walters, Butler Building, B-203-D, (570) 450-3005.
This same office also describes the University’s rights and responsibilities to the student under this act. It is a right of the University: i.e., the Physical Therapist Assistant program to identify “essential functions” that a student must be able to perform to successfully complete the program requirements. It is the student’s responsibility to determine they CAN complete these functions with or without reasonable accommodations as defined by the ADA and the University. Any questions concerning this information can be directed to the resources noted above.
