To post on the WordPress site, please follow these steps.
Step 1: Logging into Your Account
Log in to your account by entering https://sites.psu.edu/spled575/ into the address bar of your internet browser. Click on Log in (top left corner, see arrow below), enter your PSU id and password
Step 2. Using the Dashboard
After logging into your account, you will be directed to your Dashboard, a personalized WordPress home that enables you to post to the SPLED 575 site. Your dashboard will look a little different from the one below.
Step 3: Adding a New Post
On the left-hand side of your Dashboard page, you will see icons that contain expandable menus. Click on the Posts menu and select Add New to create a new post.
A new page with the heading Add New Post will open.
3a) In the first blank field, enter the name of your post (e.g., book title or app).
3b) Insert the text of your paper in the second box. It may be useful to work in microsoft word and then paste your original paper into the post using the Paste as Plain Text function (see figure below)
3c) Finally, click the appropriate category box for your post by choosing from the Category options (see figure, your categories will be different). You can also, if desired, enter the keywords for your paper in the Post Tags box and click Add
Step 4) Adding pictures to your post
4a) Click on Add an Image icon
Insert your cursor where you would like the picture to appear. Then, in the Visual Toolbar mode, click on the Add Media icon.
Follow the steps to browse to find your file, then upload it. You will see a screen as below.

- Insert a title
- Provide Alt Text ( a description of the picture)
- No caption is needed
- Select alignment
- Select large or full size
– images should not be larger than 600 pixels wide by 600 pixels high. You can resize inserted pictures by clicking on an image and resizing it
Then click on Insert in Post
Click on Save Draft in top right corner.
Step 5: Submitting Your Paper
When you are ready to submit your proposal to the SPLED 575 website, you may (depending on your “status”) publish your paper by clicking on “Publish” (which will result in your paper being viewable on the site). Please email the instructor using Canvas to let him know that you have published a post on the site.
