Research Area: I am an interdisciplinary political communication scholar who studies rhetorics and their philosophical foundations from transnational perspectives. My recently published book, Legal and Rhetorical Foundations of Economic Globalization: An Atlas of Ritual Sacrifice in Late-Capitalism, surveys the “ritological” dimension of modern legal instruments, specifically as legitimization frameworks for the taking and transferring of rights from one group to another. My current research examines how emerging technological disruptions are reshaping civic rituals and augmenting the possibilities for advocacy. This work has led to several peer-reviewed publications, including my latest article, “Legal and Rhetorical Dynamics of Personalized ‘Pillars of Shame’ in the Chinese Social Credit System,” published in China Review (2024).
