Hershey strives to create an accessible wellness environment for employees

HERSHEY, Pa. — Interested in health and wellness topics but don’t know where to turn for more information? A recent Penn State LionPulse survey found that you aren’t alone. Approximately 30% of individuals are unsure of where to go for wellness initiatives and additional information, while another 20% turn to Google for help. As a result, LionPulse, an outreach effort of Penn State PRO Wellness, is working to increase awareness among employees and students of the existing wellness benefits, health resources and opportunities that Penn State Health offers.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Stress is something that everyone experiences, and it can impact an individual’s emotional, physical and intellectual state, possibly leading to burnout. To help students alleviate stress, four wellness retreats have been hosted at Penn State’s University Park campus since January, thanks to funding from Penn State LionPulse, an outreach effort of Penn State PRO Wellness. Wilkes-Barre campus community walks 4,738 miles for LionPulse wellness challenge

Penn State Wilkes-Barre faculty, staff and students recently took part in a LionPulse wellness challenge to see to see if, collectively, they could walk 2,400 miles — or the total span of U.S. Route 66, which begins in Chicago and ends in Santa Monica, California. IMAGE: PENN STATE

Penn State Mont Alto Puts a Spin on Healthy Snacks

Penn State Mont Alto, in partnership with Penn State LionPulse, has made significant strides in improving health and wellness initiatives for students, staff and faculty. Since January, Danielle Werner, a Mont Alto campus nurse and the campus Health Champion, has worked with the wellness committee to implement nutrition and stress management initiatives across campus. Over 100 students, faculty and staff have been impacted by efforts in less than three months. (more…)

Penn State Schuylkill Spices Up Nutrition Education with New LionPulse Mobile Kitchen

Penn State Schuylkill, in partnership with Penn State LionPulse, has made significant strides in improving health and wellness initiatives for students, staff and faculty. LionPulse is an initiative to enhance wellness within the Penn State community, courtesy of funding through a university seed grant that supports the Penn State University’s Strategic Plan. Since the fall of 2018, LionPulse has facilitated ongoing wellness efforts by working with a network of health champions and wellness committees across 11 Penn State campuses. (more…)
