The central objectives of this section of Technical Writing (ENGL 202C) are the same as most others offered at Penn State, with one major difference: This particular section uses a Penn State blogging/website platform to allow each student to blog about issues related to technical writing and to practice creating a website that would be useful to others in the student’s field. The project will require flexibility but will yield an added layer of learning.
This course design is the result of a pilot program that ran in the Spring of 2009. This pilot program was jointly sponsored by the English Department’s Composition Office and Information Technology Systems’ (ITS) Educational Technology Services division.
The blogging platform we began with (Blogs@PSU) was discontinued in summer 2014, and the university recently teamed up with WordPress to create a more user-friendly platform: Sites at Penn State. Its address is easy to remember: sites.psu.edu. This is where you will build your website for this class.
As you build your individual blog/website, you can seek help from me, or you can get support through sites.psu.edu/support or you can use this IT Knowledge Base on Sites.PSU.
