After getting through all of the preliminary paperwork and piloting, I’m officially ready to start testing participants this week. So far I’ve only had a few sign ups, but it’s exciting to see more and more people fill in the times slots on the SONA system. I have my first participants Friday, so hopefully things run smoothly. In fact, I have three participants signed up. Once I’m finished testing for the day, I’m immediately going home to pack and take a train into Amsterdam again to visit my friend studying at the university here again. More to come on that in the next blog…

Another exciting part of this week is that more PIRE students arrived yesterday! Dorothy and Lina traveled from Columbia, and I was able to show them around town the first day they were here. Luckily I had figured out the public transportation system and showed them how to get their own ov-chipkaart’s to get around! When we ate our dinner Wednesday, I had the pleasure of introducing them to a classic Dutch snack: fries with mayonnaise. Although I’m not a big fan of putting mayo on everything, I think it’s definitely something worth trying when you come to the Netherlands. Hopefully, we’ll all be able to continue learning more about the culture here aside from the food and the fact that it seems like everyone here is a skilled cyclist.
