I’m tempted to say that this week has flown by, but so much has happened since I took off from State College on that dreary Sunday morning. Once in Granada, Maggie Rose and I quickly settled into our new home and oriented ourselves with our surroundings. One of our first stops was the “Mercadona,” where we bought some food to have in our fridge. We loved making little “tostadas” and we made some pretty delicious dinners as well. The first dinner we made we called “Summer Pasta” and it was delicious.

Although, it took us a few mishaps until we actually got to enjoy our dinner…..

The next night we tried to make dinner, it went much smoother with the dish that we called “Bowl of Colors” which reminded me of summer nights at home.

If not already obvious, I really enjoy food and have not been going hungry while here in Spain. But, I am here to do research so maybe I should talk a little about that as well! We visited the lab on Thursday and met some of the graduate and doctorate students that do their research there. We watched two students from California present their findings, and it was a lot to take in, but so interesting! I hope that Maggie Rose and I can record data just as interesting through our study as well. We haven’t started testing participants yet, as our experiment is having the final touches put on it, but we are starting to work on our flyer to begin recruiting people. Everyone in the lab has been so helpful and has told us how to go about getting the best participants for our study. After getting to the lab and meeting everyone, all of my worries about researching, recruiting participants, and being in the lab in general, vanished. Ever more so, the lab building overlooks such a beautiful part of Granada, which will most likely be the highlight of my day as I begin to run participants every day.

This weekend, Maggie Rose’s mom and sister were here visiting, and decided to go to Malaga for a little trip. I didn’t want to spend the whole weekend home alone, so I went to the beach with some friends from Penn State that are finishing up their semester here in Granada. They are so sad to be leaving, and are very jealous that I’ve got 7 more weeks here. They gave me a ton of suggestions and advised me to make the most of every moment here, as it will fly by before I know it. I will most definitely heed their advice. The beach was wonderful and I hope to go back another weekend!

Tomorrow I think that Maggie Rose and I will continue working on our posters to recruit participants for our study, and print them out on Tuesday at this cute little place right around the corner from our Airbnb.

That’s about all I’ve got for now, and I’m headed to get tapas soon, so until next time!
