After walking in many wrong directions to get to the lab on my first day, I did finally find my way. My officemates and coworkers are very friendly and welcoming, and I already feel a part of the team. Right now, they are planning for a big conference on bilingualism next week, and it is exciting to be a part of the planning process and the conference itself! There are several different labs on this floor, and I have met many different people, not quite sure who is in my lab and who is in another, but it is always nice to have more faces to recognize and say hello to. I expected them to speak German with me, and I was looking forward to the opportunity to practice my listening skills! But it is an english lab, and mostly everyone speaks English with me. Frau Wolf, the secratary for the lab, only speaks German, though, so when I speak with her, then I really get to practice. Now that I have been here a couple days more, they are using German a little bit more with me as well.
