We are very fortunate that our host university is right down the street because we have been constantly there testing the overwhelming amount of participants. It is amazing to see the amount of interest in participating due to the conversion rate between Colombian pesos and the US dollar. We have become such regulars that many of the librarians, security guards, and custodians have become interested in what we are doing. I will never forget the reaction and hug that I received after paying one of the librarians for her participation. Interest is so high that we are actually going to exceed our target amount of participants! It has caused our testing days to be a little hectic, but we have managed to power through, even through some problems outside of our control. We are excited to depart for Medellin and Palenque this coming Tuesday, but we cannot wait to come back to the beautiful city in June.
On a non testing note, we have been able to explore even more of this amazing city and discover many of its hidden gems. I considered myself a somewhat picky-eater until college, but since I have been here I have thoroughly enjoyed every dish I have had! Through testing, we have made many friendships with people that are interested in showing us their favorite places in the city and learning more about each others culture along the way. Luckily, one of our favorite places is our rooftop balcony that is perfect to catch some rays, watch a beautiful sunset, or take in the amazing mountain and city views. The only thing I could ask for differently is that he bricks were not as slippery because I have taken a tumble one too many times. That and being woken up by a mild earthquake which happened to reach us all the way from Peru at around 3am.
