After being here for six weeks, I would say I am pretty confident with my D.C knowledge: the metro, directions to places, and even a little history. But, it feels as though there is so much to do in this city! While Maura and I have seen so much, it feels like there is always something new to do.
During the past week, Maura and I made a quick decision to go to the Library of Congress-Thomas Jefferson Building for a little before it closed…and we were so happy we made the trip! It was such a beautiful building, filled with exhibits and history. The Thomas Jefferson library with his collection of books was my favorite part. The pictures below do not even capture the full architecture of this beautiful building. After, we went to Jazz in the Gardens again as it was the first official night of summer! This has become my favorite way to spend our Friday nights: always meeting up with different people and hearing a different band makes each time we go unique!
Over the weekend I went to the Newseum and I found myself spending almost the whole day there! The amount to read and look at was incredible. The 9/11 gallery generated a lot of emotions, but it was extremely worth it to see. I also got to see a piece of the Berlin Wall, an FBI exhibit, an incredible view of the Capitol building, and so much more.
This research week was filled with a lot of writing. Maura and I are excited and grateful that our PSU advisor, Dr. Miller, is coming to Gallaudet to visit and see our progress! I’ll let you know how that goes next week! Until then, keep learning and exploring!
Wow!! Your adventures look so fun and exciting! D.C. has so many places to visit and I am so happy to see you using it all to your advantage. Hope the research continues to go well!
