Hi Everyone! My name is Angelica and I cannot believe it is almost July. This summer seems to be flying by and before I know it, we’re going to be back at State College! Which is super exciting.
This project is something that I’ve been working on for so long (since last fall semester!). You’d think I would be able to understand it. But every time I do, new things pop up. The linguistical world is fascinating in that it seems to be a place where you can always learn something new. My advisor just introduced me to Gorilla and other web sites that are helping with the journey. I am currently working on our stimuli item list, and there are new pieces of advice and information everywhere that I turn. Once the stimuli get finalized (which is any day now) we’ll be able to bring in speakers to record themselves reading the stimuli aloud. One will be someone from Spain in our partner university in Granada. The other is someone closer to home, who is a natural English speaker. The stimuli are English words following the S+ Consonant format. Once we get the stimuli recorded we’ll be able to soon get the experiment ready for tests! Which is so exciting. I’ve been looking forward to having participants and interacting with people across the globe.
Even though the summer seems to be flying by, this project is a great constant to have. I have been enjoying spending the time working on it and get new knowledge and understanding of how everything works in running an experiment online. Even if we’re not on-site, this experiment will happen!
