For me, Week 6 looked a lot like a scene from a movie: rapid typing, mouse clicking, and a seemingly endless stream of 1’s and 0’s. We really dug into scoring the data from our first round of participants and I learned how to use all the cool mathematical functions in Excel. Who knew all those calculations I had done by hand could be finished in a matter of minutes on a computer?
I also had the opportunity to attend some webinars put out by the University libraries. They were super informative and helped me so much! I learned about citation managers, which make writing up our research papers a lot easier and more organized; and about systematic reviews, which are papers that I’ve been reading all along and had no idea! The presenters were so energetic and knowledgeable that it made me even more excited to be a part of the research community.
I hope everyone had a productive week!!
That is such an interesting way of describing analyzing (or in your case, scoring) data that I never thought of. I do agree that sometimes I feel like I’m in a movie, one of those scenes where the super tech savvy person is furiously typing on the computer and it cuts to cool sounds and action packed-scenes, except… I’m probably the least tech savvy person you’ve met. That might be an exaggeration, but I definitely don’t understand why my laptop loves giving me issues sometimes…
But I do like coding, so that’s a plus (it just depends on what kind of coding).
Hope all your coding goes well!
